What is the Department of Health Doing About Cancer?

The Department is working to reduce the burden of cancer in Washington State through the following programs: the Washington CARES About Cancer Partnership, the Breast, Cervical and Colon Health Program, the Washington Tracking Network, and the Washington State Cancer Registry. The Department also has additional funding through the CDC Colorectal Cancer Control Program. In this program, we are currently working to educate healthcare providers on strategies to increase colon cancer screening rates.

The Department also responds to concerns about cancer clusters.

State PlanThe Washington State Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan (PDF) is a guide for prevention and control efforts to reduce the burden of cancer in Washington. The Plan includes goals, objectives, and strategies to address the broad spectrum of cancer issues.
